Popular Manchester café Cotton is set to be the second business to move into Capital & Centric’s Farnworth Green development.
The independent, which currently has stores in Ancoats and at Neptune Mill, is renowned for its artisan sandwiches and organic coffee.
Farnworth Green was officially opened to the public on 1st February, almost five years on from Capital & Centric announcing their £50m vision for the former Market Precinct site.
The first retail unit to be filled was done so by Cheshire-founded café chain The Coffee House, which enjoyed a very busy opening day this past Saturday and became the company’s 30th store in the process.

However, further down Brackley Street, a huge sign has now appeared on the front of the unit opposite Greenhalgh’s Craft Bakery, with ‘coming soon’ and ‘Cotton’ written in black on a white background.
An official opening date for Cotton is yet to be announced, but it is really interesting to see Farnworth Green attracting this type of indie Manchester business and I’m personally intrigued to see what follows.
Do you think Cotton will be a success in Farnworth and which businesses would you like to see move in next? Let me know in the comments.

Hi Tom, I am a Farnworth resident, and lovely as the new eateries are, we also need businesses where we can actually shop at. Shoe shop, clothes shop, independent butcher`s shop, for example. People having choice, will create a better Farnworth.
I agree, would be good to see some more range in the businesses and hopefully there will be as it progresses.
Butcher shop. vegetable shop. nice restaurant
Yeah I think a nice restaurant would be great. I do remember the old butcher shop on Brackley Street so agree that it would be lovely to have one back.
Wouldn’t it be great to see the library move into Farnworth Green too!
Got very fond memories of the old library building! But it would definitely be nice to bring it right into heart of the town centre.
